Aéropostale Annual Report: Platinum Winner

The Prescott Alexander team earned three 2011 MarCom Awards, announced today by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals:

• Platinum Award for the Aéropostale 2009 Annual Report in the category of Annual Report/Corporation
• Platinum Award for the Bobby Dodd Institute 2009 Annual Report in the category of Pro Bono
• Gold Award for the Goodrich Corporation 2010 Annual Report in the category of Annual Report/Corporation

The international awards competition recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals and is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals.

Bobby Dodd Institute Annual Report: Platinum Winner

As part of its mission, AMCP fosters and supports the efforts of creative professionals who contribute their unique talents to public service and charitable organizations. Over the past several years, AMCP has donated over $75,000 in grants to support the efforts of its members. That money was used for marketing materials for homeless shelters, orphanages, day camps, community theaters, art centers, programs for the elderly and for child care and educational endeavors for the underprivileged.

Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

Goodrich Corporation Annual Report: Gold Winner

Winners were selected from over 200 categories in seven forms of media and communication efforts – marketing, publications, marketing/promotion, public service/pro bono, creativity and electronic/interactive. Cox Enterprises 2010 Online Annual Report

Our award was for the Cox Enterprises 2010 Online Annual Report, which was entered in the category of Design–Digital–Website.

The Cox Enterprises Online Annual Report was targeted to reach the company’s 60,000 employees nationwide, as well as financial lenders, the media and other stakeholders such as business partners and community organizations. The report not only provided important content, it did so in an environmentally friendly, cost-effective way in keeping with a more than 60% annual budget reduction for the project introduced in 2008. Cox Enterprises 2010 Annual Review

Silver Quill is IABC Southern Region’s annual competition for communication professionals, with entries judged in 27 categories recognizing excellence in publications, communication campaigns, electronic and digital communications, graphic design and other communication projects. The competition is open to IABC members and non-members. Winners were chosen by a jury of peers, including IABC members who are former Silver Quill award winners, Accredited Business Communicators (ABC) and senior-level professionals from across the country.

Adrian Cropley, ABC, IABC International Chair, praised this year’s winners for their dedication in raising the value of our profession, by sharing their excellent practices through the awards process. In winning a Silver Quill they also strengthen their personal brand and the brand of the organization they work for.

The two breakout sessions provided an overview of annual reports, including how they are approached differently by public companies, private companies and nonprofit organizations and the various printed and online formats available. Discussion also covered integrated annual reports (which merge financial and social responsibility content into a single report), use of video in online annual reports, project management approaches and message development tips.

The “Effective Annual Reports” handout is available online.

The conference organizers wanted a design that captured the spirit of the host city. They also desired a site that would be easy to maintain by their volunteer board and conference organizers.

We provided a site powered by WordPress, a user-friendly content management system. Photos from the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau and a vibrant color palette combined for the right energy level.

The online annual report Prescott Alexander created for Cox Enterprises received three awards from IABC/Atlanta:

• Golden Flame Award in the category of Design – Digital – Website
• Silver Flame Award in the category of Overall Effort – Digital – Website
• Bronze Flame Award in the category of Design – Digital – External Single Piece

The summary annual report – a printed piece which supplemented the online annual – also earned high marks from the judges:

Cox Enterprises 2009 Summary Annual Report

The Golden Flame Awards program is a yearly event held by the International Association of Business Communicators’ Atlanta chapter (IABC/Atlanta) to recognize excellence in communications. The 2010 award winners were announced at the annual Golden Flame Awards Banquet, held on October 28 at downtown Atlanta’s historic Biltmore Hotel. The program highlighted the achievements of local professionals and companies in a variety of categories, including print media, electronic media, graphic communications and media relations.

The conference is an annual professional development and networking event offered to members of IABC’s 28-chapter Southern Region. The Southern Region’s primary goals are to support the leadership of the Southern Region chapters, provide a link to IABC International and promote professional development through the annual conference and Silver Quill Awards.
